Charles Schwab Manager, Software Development & Engineering in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Duties: System design and specification development, program logic and flow-charting, testing, debugging, and documentation. Work closely with other development teams to deliver real-time market data, charts, alerts, and orders to millions of users of the thinkorswim Web platform. Contribute in a highly distributed, collaborative team environment. Perform high-complexity product design exercises which require extensive research and analysis. Conduct system design and specification development, program logic and flow-charting, testing, debugging, and documentation. Make design choices to be used by the development teams. Complete complex programming tasks and review of development tasks and documentation. Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture & Infrastructure teams on strategic designs and initiatives. Lead the troubleshooting of complex problems in development and production environments. Serve as a technical lead in a fast-paced environment. Position allows for partial remote work. Must live within reasonable commuting distance. Reports to company office in Ann Arbor, MI. Subject to Schwab’s internal approach to workplace flexibility.

Starting compensation for this location depends on related experience. Annual bonus opportunity and other eligible earnings are not included in the range(s) above. We offer a competitive benefits package, see below for details.

Salary: $155,038.00 - $195,200.00

What you have

Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Requires 6 years of progressive, post-Bachelor’s related experience, which include some experience in each of the following skills: Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance, and low-latency server applications using Java with Spring; Develop and debug concurrency and multi-threaded server applications in Java; Create and maintain applications using Java for the banking, finance, or trading industry which provide real-time market data, positions, balances, and trading capabilities; Create and tune SQL queries for use in RDBMS (relational database management systems) such as SQL Server, mySQL, Postgres or Oracle; Java garbage collection, garbage collection algorithms, and how to configure them for optimal performance; and Deploy, run, and troubleshoot Java applications on Linux using console using jstack and jmap.
