The Tax Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the tax planning and compliance functions for Erickson Senior Living. This role involves leadership in tax strategy formulation, compliance management, and fostering efficient tax outcomes. The position requires expertise in federal, state and local tax laws, proactive tax research, reviewing tax filings, identifying opportunities for tax savings, and aiding in decision making.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience starting at $100,000 / annually.

How you will make an impact

  • Provides leadership of the team and promotes the department’s vision in all activities and interactions

  • Implements, documents and executes all processes performed as part of tax planning and/or compliance and ensures that the processes are adhered to by all team members

  • Supports or manages income tax compliance and preparation coordination: annual and quarterly income tax compliance for federal and state filings; tax projection modeling/planning; projects and initiatives to assess tax impact of business transactions; tax letters review

  • Supports or manages other compliance matters including, but not limited to: franchise tax returns, gross receipts returns, real estate tax assessment responses, unclaimed property, personal property tax returns, sales tax reporting, business license filings, liquor license filings, COVID relief application and compliance reporting (HRSA/ PRF, FEMA, for example)

  • Manages audits and inquiries processes and acts as primary contact with consultants or taxing authorities

  • Stays up to date on changes in tax laws and regulations and performs research to understand the impact of these changes

  • Attracts, develops and retains top performers on the team and ensures high employee satisfaction by creating an environment of learning and professional development

  • Maintains and leads relationships with vendors, consultants, and taxing authorities in support of tax planning and compliance initiatives.

What you will need

  • Minimum five years’ experience in tax/finance required

  • Bachelors in Accounting/Finance required; MBA/CPA credentials are a plus

  • Microsoft Office a must; with solid Excel skills

  • Preferred experience: management/supervisory; public accounting; healthcare, real estate and/or senior living industry; analytical trend analysis, modeling and tax planning; Microsoft AX
