ASM Global Maintenace Technician - Part-Time - Raising Cane's River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Summary: The part-time Maintenance Technicians duties involve performing general maintenance duties to ensure the facility is in good operating condition, as well as managing the physical well-being of the Raising Cane's River Center, including all functions related to utilities, HVAC, and repair.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general building maintenance, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and repair.

  • Perform projects that involve working with sheetrock, wall vinyl, etc.

  • Maintain shop equipment and workstation with attention to safety and housekeeping.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on various pieces of mechanical equipment, including HVAC systems, low and high-pressure boilers, and food service equipment such as ovens, grills, dishwashers, deep fryers, and refrigeration units.

  • Check for proper operation of safety devices and test and treat water in boilers, chilled water, and condenser water systems.

  • Repair and maintain equipment in equipment rooms, including painting equipment as necessary to maintain a clean and safe environment.

  • Operate, monitor, repair, and maintain the facility's environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC, fire system, and lighting systems.

  • Locate, check, and clean building smoke detector heads.

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, ensuring that safety plans are fully in place.

  • Report any unsafe or hazardous conditions to the supervisor immediately.

  • Operate various equipment including forklifts, power sweepers, power scrubbers, boom lifts, electric carts, and miscellaneous hand and power tools.

  • Recommend requisition of supplies and materials to the Director of Operations.

  • Maintain daily work records.

  • Respond to public inquiries courteously, providing information and services as per event orders and resolving complaints efficiently.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC units, maintenance and repair techniques for food service equipment, and operating principles of heating and ventilation units.

  • Skill in mechanical maintenance and operating modern office equipment (computer, fax, phone, and copy machine).

  • Ability to recognize and use simple hand-held, manual, and power tools needed for general maintenance duties.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, peers, and the public.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and various equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, electric carts, and radio devices.

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods on hard-surface floors, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders and staircases multiple times a day.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and understand verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to read and understand English.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Two or more years of experience in general maintenance.

  • Driver's License.

  • Forklift certification preferred.

Working Environment/Conditions:

  • Exposure to adverse conditions, including weather, heat, cold, dust, pollen, and fumes.

  • In and out of doors multiple times a day.

  • Irregular hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as determined by the event schedule.

  • May require extended hours as determined by the event schedule.

  • Ability to read printed words and numbers in printed form and on a computer/terminal monitor.

  • Hearing sufficient to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells, and horns.

  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination.

  • Daily lifting up to 50 lbs. for up to 5 minutes at a time and carrying up to 50 lbs. for up to 5 minutes at a time.

  • Ability to distinguish color and see and distinguish objects or symbols at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and bringing objects into focus.

  • Constant standing, walking, stooping, reaching, and handling products.
