    Job Description

FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES), to assume responsibility for coordinating research administration and financial activities for IMES. Will work under minimal supervision from the senior financial officer and collaborate closely with the financial officers. Responsibilities involve a diverse range of pre- and post-award grant administration duties, including interpreting and resolving highly varied situations and problems; providing guidance and financial support to faculty members and labs within IMES and across other departments; and coordinating pre- and post-award duties for a portfolio of researchers and billing agreements, compiling and submitting proposals and budgets, setting up account structures at award stage, providing regular financial forecasts for principal investigators (PIs), monitoring and adjusting effort charges as needed, approving transactions where applicable, and closing out accounts once complete.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least two years of direct/related financial/accounting experience; knowledge of and experience with financial systems, spreadsheets, accounting tools, and general finance administration; excellent analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to set priorities, work effectively under the pressure of deadlines, and deal with frequent interruptions; strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel and Word; and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED: knowledge of OSP Kuali COEUS and SAP, MIT's financial and administrative system; and knowledge of Uniform Guidance, NIH and other federal sponsor policies, and MIT policies related to finance and research administration.
