Description Position Summary The Pharmacy Manager, is responsible for planning, monitoring, and directly supervising pharmacy personnel in the safe, effective, and cost-effective acquisition and use of medications. Essential Functions Directing pharmacy operations, strategies, policies and procedures, the budget process, project planning and implementation, human resource management and committee representation. The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for insuring compliance with all regulatory standards, implementing and monitoring financial controls to insure effective utilization of resources through budgeting and analysis of management reports, development of staff and services, as well as organizational performance improvement, quality management, evidence based outcome and setting the communication tone, values and culture of the health system. Collaboration with clinical leadership to develop drug use initiatives and assure appropriate use of medications. The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for the execution and consistent implementation of drug use initiatives and Pharmacy care management initiatives. Collaboration with system stakeholders to develop quality initiatives, processes and tools. The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for the execution and consistent implementation of quality initiatives across all pharmacy practice settings. He or she will also be responsible for ensuring enforcement of all applicable policies, standards and regulations related to Medication Safety, Medication Management and AR&L (Accreditation, Regulatory and Licensing). Collaboration with Pharmacy Informatics personnel to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of technology systems and to contribute to the development of technology innovation. Lead people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Achievement of pharmacy productivity targets (Inpatient, Outpatient, and other functional areas), goals and performance metrics at the Medical Center. Collaboration with the Institution's Compliance Officer to ensure adherence with the Pharmacy Compliance Plan and to ensure Corrective Action Plans are developed and completed in response to Compliance issues. Responsibility for executive leadership over compliance related to Pharmacy Operations. Involvement in the training of pharmacy students and residents. Collaboration with designated Service Line Leaders to develop policies, procedures, systems, tools and communication strategies to ensure compliance with Pharmacy Laws and regulations in all regional Pharmacy Operations and Services. Initiate and manage the change process, taking steps to remove barriers or accelerate its pace. Communicates a compelling vision and need for change that generates excitement, enthusiasm, and commitment to the process. Clearly communicates the direction, required performance, and challenges of change to all involved parties.
