JOB SUMMARY

Under close supervision and at the entry level:

  • Learns BCBSWY renewal sales process with the goal of generating renewals in the 2 to 99 group market, non-group, life and ancillary product lines of business per established production goals.
  • Maintains a high level of persistency throughout various lines of business.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of renewal sales/corporate goals.
  • As directed, provides continued service to enrolled group, non-group and ancillary product subscribers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Begins to identify and provides input to immediate supervisor as to customer needs and wants, competitive activity, market conditions and the delivery of products in terms of claims processing, billing and customer service at the local account/subscriber level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works toward quality initiatives.
  • Through supervisor, becomes familiar with corporate guidelines and expectations.
  • Learns to satisfactorily update the prospecting database for each call (renewal, service and otherwise) made during the course of business, and submits to the home office completed Weekly Call Summary, prospecting and pipeline reports on a timely basis. Activity reports must be entered into the Consumer Relationship Management system weekly.
  • Provides continued service to clients via telephone and on-site visits.
  • Represents BCBSWY to the community at large in a professional manner and in accordance with corporate guidelines at all times.
  • Develops working knowledge of the features, benefits, and advantages of our group, non-group, life and ancillary products in order to professionally and effectively present them to business owners and key decision-makers.
  • Develops an understanding and working knowledge of the contents of groups and non-group contracts both as to benefit administration and the legal requirements and obligations under which we operate as found in the Group Master/Benefit Booklet.
  • Learns to conduct business activities in accordance with the current eligibility and underwriting guidelines as set forth in the Underwriting Manual and completes all Group Renewals and Compliance paperwork on a timely basis.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled by management.
  • Works in a professional manner with agents and brokers appointed by BCBSWY in assigned district.
  • Assists as needed to ensure Member Center is staffed appropriately to provide service to prospects and subscribers.
  • Learns to meet established production goals by utilizing effective renewal sales techniques and on-site visits.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

APPLICABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES (KSA)

Ability to retain existing group, non-group, and allied lines of business for BCBSWY through effective use of verbal and written communication skills, sales technique and a thorough knowledge of those products offered by BCBSWY and those of our competitors.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or GED. Must be currently licensed to sell health insurance in Wyoming, or be able to obtain within 3 months of hire. Current, valid drivers license required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee will typically experien e:

  • Lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds; occasionally lifting and/or move up to 25 pounds short distances.
  • Usage of close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Manipulation of keyboards, keypads, and calculators.
  • Placing and answering telephone calls.
  • Focused task tracking and follow-through.
  • Some interpersonal tension in problem-solving/resolution interactions.
  • Speaking/presenting to internal and external audiences of diverse sizes.
  • Work environment noise level that is usually moderate.
  • Open office environment with few, if any, loud sounds, or ongoing auditory distractions.
  • Some deadline related stress.
  • As needed evening and weekend hours on a periodic basis.
  • Minimal travel, typically in-state.
