Position Description:

CGI Federal’s Emerging Technologies Practice (ETP) seeks a highly-motivated technologist and leader to direct its Applied Research and Development Team. The Director, Applied Research and Technology will reside as a Center of Excellence (COE) under the auspices of the Chief Growth Officer, within the overall Strategic Operations group, to work collaboratively with the Business Units, Strategic Operations and CGI Federal Management to develop translate the Emerging Technologies Practice vision into an executable strategy.

This positions preferred location is Lafayette, LA, Lebanon, VA, Belton, TX, Knoxville, TN or Fairfax, VA; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Due to the nature of this government contract, US Citizenship is required.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The Applied Research and Technologies team is responsible for establishing and maintaining CGI Federal’s POV and expertise in each of the emerging technology areas and leading the development of Proofs of Concept/Prototypes to demonstrate to customers the practical application of these technologies.

The Director, Applied Research and Technology will lead the development and execution of CGI Federal’s strategy to support the Business Units in their efforts to drive profitable growth by leveraging emerging technologies and practices.

In addition, the Director, Applied Research and Technology will be responsible for collaborating with CGI Federal Marketing and Communications to establish and maintain a personal, strategic external market presence in the Digital Services and Innovation domains, aligned to a strategic portfolio of emerging technology research and development areas. The external presence shall include speaking engagements, a Social Media presence and direct engagement with existing and potential customers.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• A Bachelor’s degree with minimum 15 - 20 years of work experience in the IT field

• Experience managing teams of architects and emerging technology subject matter experts

• Thrive on keeping up to date with market changes, ability to speak fluently about them and point out implications and opportunities for CGI.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, must be proficient developing and delivering presentations on solution and business case/value to large groups of Federal IT executives and managers.

• Self-directed style

• Ability to clearly articulate technology concepts to a business audience

• Strong public speaking and other forms of media expertise

• Leading and mentoring a team of Subject Matter Experts, and collaborating with an extended community of SMEs in the areas of:

• Big Data Analytics and Visualization

• IoT and Edge Compute

• Intelligent Automation and Robotic Process Engineering

• Distributed Ledger Technology

• Advanced Modelling, Simulation, xR, and Metaverse applications

• Advanced Communications such as 5G, 6G, and other orbital and terrestrial communications

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

• Master's degree in related technology field.

• Prior experience with US Federal Government contractor or agency work

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $123,700.00 - $270,600.00.
