Job Summary As the New Installation Shop Technician, your primary responsibility will be to focus on new equipment installations and modifications. Your role encompasses performing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and cosmetic repair and maintenance on electric and internal combustion lift trucks, along with various material handling equipment and related machinery, primarily within a supervised shop environment. Your commitment to delivering exceptional service is paramount. You must prioritize complete customer satisfaction, consistently interacting with clients in a polite and professional manner. In this role, you'll utilize your technical expertise to ensure the efficient functioning and safety compliance of equipment.

Responsibilities

· Perform quality new equipment installations and modifications, following policies and procedures in a timely manner.

· Exhibits a professional demeanor, promotes goodwill between the company and customers by providing a superior level of customer service.

· Install and set up new equipment according to manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.

· Ensure all components and systems are properly assembled, calibrated, and tested for optimal performance and safety.

· Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to new equipment installation, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

· Identify and resolve problems efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure customer satisfaction.

· Perform thorough inspections of new equipment to verify that all components are in good working condition and free from defects.

· Conduct quality checks to ensure that installations meet company standards and regulatory requirements.

· Maintain accurate records of equipment installations, including serial numbers, installation dates, and any relevant notes or observations.

· Prepare reports and documentation for customers and internal use, documenting installation procedures and any issues encountered.

· Stay updated on new forklift models, technologies, and installation techniques through training and self-study.

· Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance team capabilities and performance.

· Observes, analyzes, and determines corrective course of action for service and repair of customer equipment.

· Prepares necessary documentation relating to each repair in a neat and accurate manner.

· Perform any other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

· High school education, plus one to three years mechanical, electrical and hydraulic experience in a similar environment or equivalent in college or vocational education.

· Ability to communicate effectively with customers, management and co-workers.

· Ability to read and interpret schematics.

· Ability to read and understand necessary service and training manuals.

· Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or demonstrated instructions.

· Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.

· Ability to maintain a good understanding of industry innovations and product availability in order to make recommendations based on customer need.

· Ability to effectively utilize volt, ohm and multi-meters.

· Demonstrate a good mechanical and electrical aptitude.

· Ability to safely operate drills, grinders, presses, forklift, hoists, overhead cranes and personal hand tools.

· Ability to draw upon available support resources from within the company and recognize when it is appropriate to do such.

· Knowledge and ability to navigate the internet, intranet, Excel, Outlook and Word.

· Such other knowledge, skills and abilities as are necessary in connection with additionally assigned duties.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position is classified as heavy work, involving the operation of machinery, power tools, and heavy equipment. Job tasks may require various physical activities such as walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, along with moving about the warehouse to various work areas. Physical demands include the ability to constantly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally to 100 pounds. Manual dexterity is crucial for operating machinery, tools, computers, and handling materials. Clear articulation and voice control are essential for effective communication with both internal and external customers via telephone. Specific vision abilities essential for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, visual acuity is necessary to read documents, schematics, and equipment displays.

This role operates within a shop/warehouse setting with frequent exposure to oil, grease, and dirt, as well as extreme seasonal temperatures, and vibration. Occasionally, the role may entail working in elevated conditions, encountering harmful or corrosive chemicals, and facing the risk of electric shock. There is potential exposure to hazards related to equipment movement and harmful chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed. Noise levels typically range from moderate to high.
