Position Summary

As a direct of the CFO, Medicare this role will work to ensure that the financial goals are aligned with the Strategic and Operational imperatives necessary to achieve those goals. With product lines exceeding $60 Billion in annual revenue the coordination of the Business and Financial teams is a high priority to ensure alignment and drive strategy. This role will help drive CVS's ability to achieve its financial and strategic goals for our Medicare product lines through effective support of financial closing, Strategic planning and forecasting processes, and investment business case reviews. Leads and directs managers in achieving organization purposes and objectives by solving management and business problems, identifying, and seizing new opportunities, enhancing thought leadership and implementing change.



Responsible for providing guidance and direction to influence senior business leadership and cross-functional team members as required in support of strategic initiatives. Provide business and financial expertise needed to set planning priorities and develop implementation approaches.

Drive and conduct formulation, research, preparation, and communication of strategic, operational and financial business plans that deliver enterprise growth expectations. Ensure consistent, efficient, and cost-effective processes, procedures and appropriate accountability. Act as strategic thought leader in support of business direction. Monitor and report on performance relative to plan and strategic alignment.

Provide financial analysis and recommendations in support of management's evaluation of strategic and business initiatives, while monitoring and evaluating risks. May collaborate and respond to inquiries from external parties, such as state agencies, regulators, or auditors.

This is a strategic position for Medicare Finance. The ED, Medicare Finance Consolidation will be required to interact directly with Medicare Leadership team, Enterprise Economics, the Strategy team supporting Medicare, as well as the core Medicare Finance team. This Executive Director will also:

  • Be a strategic partner with Medicare Leadership to determine and execute on growth strategies, financial targets, and overall margin requirements of the product lines.

  • Understand the strategic competitive environment and drive discussion and solutioning of potential business implications.

  • Evaluate investment opportunities to ensure strong ROIs for their divisions through decision support and financial analysis.

  • Collaborate with constituent areas including Actuarial, Enterprise Economics, Clinical, Network, Related Parties (Shared Services) and Medical Economics to execute on growth priorities.

  • Partner with Medicare Leadership and ensure all Medicare reporting helps drive results and communicates key messages effectively.

  • Drive enhanced close reporting materials and standardization of them across the Medicare product portfolio.

  • Enhance the Budgeting and Forecasting materials to ensure effective communication and drive efficiency of the process.

  • Provide support for a variety of finance / business needs, including the development of monthly and quarterly reporting packages, budget presentations for senior leadership, and day-to-day ad-hoc analyses.

  • Oversee the enhancement of core FP&A, including enhanced processes and better real-time insights including deeper analytics on gross margin trends and drivers.

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of relevant financial experience

  • Design and implement the structure, consistency, review, testing, efficiency, and effective communication to the processes that the Medicare CFO’s will need to follow as this role rolls up all the data for the monthly close, budgeting, and forecasting from the various Medicare product lines.

  • Lead the financial strategic and self-funded Medicare initiatives, ROI and prioritization process. Ensure ROI estimates are reasonable and track results for key initiatives.

  • Develop an improved and critical Medicare Finance strategy around our competitive analyses to ensure we understand our competitors and their key financial goals/metrics to push the Medicare team toward higher goals. This is needed to understand what levels of profitability and growth should/may be achievable. As a result, this will provide more strategic context to help prioritize our investment portfolio and the work of Signify, Oak Street, PBM, and other CVS assets to focus on innovative solutions for the Medicare Products to further reach our goals.

  • Drive our long-term growth and profitability goals to ensure they are supported through the Medicare Bid Process and Medicare Group Pricing approaches.

  • Collaborate, model, and optimize our strategic initiatives through cost/benefit analysis.

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$131,500.00 - $303,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
