DXC Technology Cloud Migration Architect in Houston, Texas
Provides technical leadership on cloud infrastructure strategy. Understands native cloud features and the value that these provide over traditional hosting. Develops strategies for migrating traditional dedicated and virtual workloads to the cloud.
Essential Job Functions
Takes the lead on defining and agreeing DXC’s internal cloud migration strategy through collaboration across different internal IT functions.
Collaborating with network architects to align network and cloud strategies.
Architecting a standard cloud hosting compartment that is secure, operationally efficient and vendor agnostic; define and implement a predominantly standard compartment architecture that can be deployed across different vendor cloud environments, with minimal variance or impact to operational support.
Proficient in cloud security, encryption and data security techniques and products; how to deploy and operate them to ensure protection of high sensitive data in a public cloud environment.
Develop methodology for assessing traditional applications and workloads for cloud adoption readiness.
Deep understanding of cloud cost models and features from the major players (AWS, Azure, Google), how these compare and how they can be leveraged by workloads and applications to ensure maximum business value.
Ability to support, at a technical level, application SME’s in re-factoring traditional applications for public cloud hosting.
Mature operational understanding of both traditional and cloud infrastructure hosting in order to assist operational teams and platform SME’s, moving from traditional hosting support to cloud support.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or related field preferred
Five or more years of experience in cloud platform architecture
Experience working with information technology
Experience migrating traditional workloads to the public cloud
Experience in cloud operational support, policy and procedures
Strong security awareness and demonstrable experience of implementing security and controls within a public cloud environment
Good organization and time management skills
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members at all levels
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Strong leadership skills to define, socialize and gain approval for DXC’s internal cloud strategy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to travel
May require evening or weekend work
