Description

We are looking for a diligent Controller to be a part of our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be involved in a variety of tasks such as processing payroll, maintaining associate data, enforcing company policies, and participating in annual cost system updates. This role is crucial in ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety rules, policies, and procedures at all times

• Accurately process hourly and salary payroll using the HRIS/Payroll system

• Maintain associate data across various systems including the ERP system, HRIS/Payroll system, and benefit providers

• Interact with associates during the enrollment of company benefits and manage changes to benefit elections

• Administer associate leaves in compliance with employment law

• Collaborate with the Corporate Controller for year-end census compilation

• Assist with year-end audit procedures and participate in corporate sponsored internal audits

• Make necessary journal entries for month-end closing with ERP and GP systems

• Review financial statements with General Manager/Division President and identify exceptions

• Prepare monthly close packages for both internal use and corporate reporting

• Calculate incentive programs and review with General Manager/Division President

• Work with Sales Associates on past due invoices by contacting customers for inquiry

• Compile inventory information for weekly and monthly reporting

• Update calculations for monthly inventory valuation

• Monitor the accuracy of inventory reports and identify stale inventory for disposition

• Work with warehouse personnel on cycle counts and month-end inventory

• Prepare capital expenditure requests for management approval

• Track capital project costs and maintain required documentation for fixed asset accounting.

Requirements

• Role requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in a Controller position or similar role

• Proficiency in Standard Costing is necessary for this position

• Demonstrated ability to manage financial systems and budgets efficiently

• Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods

• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and legislation

• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is considered a plus.
