MD Anderson Cancer Center HVAC Mechanic - EPA Universal in Houston, Texas

Ideal candidate will have a Universal Certification by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Maintain an Efficient Response to Work Orders and Assist Other Shops

•Perform preventive maintenance of all roof top exhaust fans, air handling units, fan coil units, terminal boxes and DX units.

•Respond to all code red activations.

•Respond to customer service requests.

•Respond to customers' hot and cold room temperature calls.

•Maintain and repair air distribution terminal boxes and devices.

•Provide back-up support for the other crafts (refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance).

•Install and repair all DDC controls (analog or digital), conduit, and control wiring.

•Perform on-call responses when scheduled

Ensure Proper Operation of Equipment and Maintain O&M Warehouse Inventory

•Maintain and repair all exhaust fans, air handling units, DX units, chill water and steam valves, filter changes, replacement of motors, bearings, shafts, motor bearings, and squirrel cages.

•Requisition parts and materials by utilizing Stock Issue Forms through the O&M Warehouse to repair air handlers, fan-coil units, exhaust fans and other HVAC equipment.

Assist in keeping accurate and up-to-date information on the Apogee, DDC Control, Air Balance, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Computer Control System, Inspection Reports and Punch Lists

•Conduct daily inspections of all HVAC equipment for proper operation by way of the building management control systems.

•Check and monitor on a daily basis the Small Animal Facility temperatures and humidity visually and by way of the building management control systems.

•Assist Work Control team in keeping accurate and up to date information on all assets that are assigned to the KAC Shop.

•Monitor and maintain the Animal and Lab room temperatures and humidity via use of the BAS system and associated calibration tools.

•Check, repair, calibrate and program DDC controls for temperature, humidity, and lighting control.

•Perform and maintain rooms/buildings air balancing to ensure correct pressurization of the area.

•Maintain all Phoenix Control Valves (exhaust and supply systems) CFH's and BSC's to achieve the proper air balance.

•Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of variable frequency drives controlling AHU's and exhausts fans.

•Troubleshoot, repair and build components of the Staefa and Apogee building management control systems.

•Participate in inspections for both new and re-model projects to identify discrepancies or deviations from specifications.

•Participate in walk-through inspections of construction projects and create punch lists of discrepancies.

Maintain Critical Alarm Systems

•Maintain accurate and up-to-date information of all critical equipment monitored by Monitoring Services (contact name, phone #, room #, alarm address)

•Respond to customer requests for critical equipment alarm installations, disables, disconnects and information.

•Respond to all critical alarms.

Other duties as assigned.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Four years experience in a mechanical field to include commercial installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, control systems or other mechanical environments. Three years of experience required with preferred Associates degree, as referenced by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR). Two years of experience required with preferred Bachelors degree, as referenced by the TDLR.

Preferred: Universal Certification by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
