ENTRUST Solutions Group Sr. Process Safety Consultant in Houston, Texas

Description

This position will report to the Director, Safety Management Systems. In this position you will serve as a member of a team providing consulting services in all aspects of process safety management (PSM), including process hazard analysis (PHA) facilitation, conducting PSM and Risk Management Program (RMP) audits, developing and implementing PSM programs and individual PSM program elements, gathering and evaluating PSI data, and other specialized areas of PSM.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical delivery of projects as assigned in accordance with requirements of client and internal project management.

  • Facilitate PHAs using techniques such as HAZOP and What-if; and including layer of protection analysis (LOPA) as necessary.

  • Evaluate effectiveness and verify compliance of client PSM and RMP programs to regulatory and client requirements.

  • Ability to read and understand process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, operating procedures, equipment specifications, and related engineering standards and specifications, engineering and equipment drawings, industry codes and standards, and regulations and interpretations.

  • Ability to assess equipment documents and documentation to determine its relevance, and if it meets documentation requirements of various internal and external codes, standards, and specifications.

  • Experience using computer software products, including Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, PHA documentation software (e.g., PHAPro, PHAWorks, PHALeader).

  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal and client personnel at various levels.

  • Prepare high quality project proposals, reports, and deliverables; conduct the necessary review of project documents with internal resources, client representatives, contractors, and others as required to work as a team on the project.

  • Evaluate the technical requirements of individual projects to identify the tasks, staffing level, travel, and equipment requirements of projects to establish scope and fees, and create a project schedule.

  • Record all project general and technical data, prepare related reports, and communicate this information orally and in writing to all parties involved.

  • Ability to identify potential project opportunities within current and known client networks.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Safety) or related field, or significant previous experience. Experienced technical professionals without a degree will be considered.

  • Technical knowledge and familiarity with oil, gas, or chemical process safety.

  • 10 – 20 years demonstrated experience in the chemical or oil and gas industry or another relevant field.

  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in PHA facilitation (PHA certification strongly preferred) and PSM program assessment, development, or implementation required.

  • Track record of recognizing potential business opportunities and capitalizing for future revenue opportunities.

  • Prior consulting experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of API RP 754 is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with facility siting and the use of API RP 752/753 is a plus.

  • Performing or providing technical oversight of safety and risk assessments (e.g., consequence modeling for dispersion/fire/explosion, QRA, SIL study) would be a plus.

  • Enthusiasm to be a part of the team and open to learn new skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and professionalism.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.

  • Unquestioned business and personal integrity.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • The consultant will be subjected to heat, cold, and other physical environmental demands.

  • The consultant will utilize PPE as defined per site Safety Department.

  • Must possess ability to work within multiple industrial settings.

  • Mobility to work in a standard office setting.

  • Use standard office equipment, including a computer.

  • Attend meetings at various sites within and away from the Firm.

  • Able to work at a desk for long periods of time.

  • Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen.

  • Ability to communicate in person and over the telephone.
