Role Overview:

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator ensures data integrity, security, and stability of Oracle databases. You will provide the knowledge needed to maintain and support current technologies and promote future growth within the Oracle Database stack. You will monitor and tune database performance to ensure data is appropriately protected via database backup and related strategies. The Administrator loads, or assists in loading, database software, upgrades, and patches. You will assist with evaluating and selecting infrastructure components and provide operation support for the database, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance.

A Day in the Life:

The essential duties of this role are:

  • Develop and advise on standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment.

  • Evaluate technology and products to determine the feasibility of adding to agency standards.

  • Develop work plans for assigned projects and manage execution.

  • Support Oracle Exadata-engineered systems.

  • Configure and maintain Oracle Goldengate replication with integrated capture between Oracle databases.

  • Monitor and tune database performance including SQL scripts, hints, execution plans, and materialized views.

  • Administer end-user access and security at the database level.

  • Ensure that data is appropriately protected via database backup and related strategies.

What You'll Need for Success:

Required:

  • Expert in administering multi-terabyte, 24x7 uptime Oracle databases as a Systems/Infrastructure Database Administrator.

    Expertise in:

  • Software and utilities related to supported DBMS such as Reorg, Backup, Recovery. Load, and Unload.

  • Capacity planning and disaster recovery.

  • Relational databases and data warehouse design techniques and dimensional modeling processes.

  • Features such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Movement (ASM), Active Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and Golden Gate replication.

    Additional qualifications:

  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work seamlessly in a team environment including DBA team, developers, and systems owners.

  • Strong knowledge and skills working with Oracle versions 11gR1/2, 12c, and 19c in a Microsoft Windows and Linus environment.

  • Strong understanding of database architecture and performance tuning.

  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Citrix.

  • Experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
