The Opportunity:

As the Contract Manager in the Electric Power Division (EPD), your role will be to support the business with structuring, preparation, and administering complex contractual agreements to ensure we win with our customers.

In this role, you will work across the organization to oversee the entire contract lifecycle and ensure compliance with company standards for the agreements we develop with our customers and business partners.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the Electric Power commercial and operations/supply chain teams with structuring agreements

  • Participate in customer/supplier negotiations, as appropriate

  • Serve as the liaison between business leaders and Legal Services during the contract preparation and negotiation process

  • Provide recommendations concerning contract structure, terms and conditions, and standardization of agreements, to drive consistency between contracts, and to ensure agreements align with EPD best practices and Caterpillar policies

  • Lead contract review sessions with all applicable stakeholders prior to execution

  • Collaborate with EPD Legal Counsel on appropriate contract terms and conditions with a focus on risk mitigation for Caterpillar

  • Maintain a comprehensive database of all contractual agreements and monitor adherence to the contractual terms and renewal/expiration dates

  • Monitor performance against key contractual terms that represent elevated risk conditions across agreements and highlight findings to business partners in pursuit of mitigating actions

What You’ll Bring:

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or specialized legal training and a minimum of 10 years of experience in a legal support, business support, or commercial role with involvement in the administration of contractual agreements.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Influencing: Extensive knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

Business Acumen: Extensive knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, DocuSign, and other software used in the contract administration process

  • MBA or Master’s degree in a business-related field

  • Expected to have, or be willing to develop, a deep understanding of Caterpillar’s Electric Power business

Additional Details:

  • Location: Irving, TX

  • Travel: up to 25%

  • Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify
