Honeywell Sr Data Modeling Architect in Kansas City, Missouri

Summary

Leads highly complex or enterprise critical projects that architects an efficient way to manage data across a diverse but unified data tier. Design, translate business requirements, develop, document, test, monitor, troubleshoot and administrate our data environment using our ETL, Data Virtualization, Business Intelligence Reporting, and Big Data tool sets

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to help design, build and manage data pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation mapping, data flow diagrams, logical and physical data models, and metadata collection. The ability to work with both IT and business in developing, managing, and integrating business intelligence reporting, analytics, and data science output into business processes and workflows.

  • Helps develop data strategies and translates them into data integration frameworks and reporting to enable business analytics

  • Provide a standard common business vocabulary, express strategic data requirements, outline high level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and align with enterprise strategy and related business architectures.

  • Leads planning sessions with customers to improve business processes and prioritize investments in data and infrastructure. Works closely with Technical Review Board and Enterprise Architects to assure all systems are in line with the long-term IT strategy.

  • Proactively analyzes existing data structures or reporting to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements. May oversee or lead the evaluation and selection process for new data application packages.

  • Develop and document IT data models (Conceptual, Logical and Physical) to facilitate efficient and effective use of data

  • Implement and maintain solutions for modeling, ETL/API, data mining, and metadata management

  • Develops decision matrix on when to use various data platforms (data warehouse, data mart, big data, or data virtualization)

  • Leads and oversees effort to identify data requirements, develops data specifications, enforces data governance, applies data modeling patterns, develops data conversion and migration designs, and develops convergence plans toward data standards.

  • Assist with developing and executing best practices for naming, governing, managing, modeling, cleansing, transforming, moving, storing, and searching all data. Ensure changes to the data environment are compliant to the architectural standards.

  • Actively participate in design and data model reviews providing constructive feedback to Application Developers

  • Manages multiple priorities of projects and requests.

  • Proposes appropriate changes to the enterprise data architecture to keep pace with Business and Market developments

  • Adheres to data quality standards and data procedures. Reviews data models for data quality assurance and validates compliance with data architecture standards.

  • Defines development guidelines and standards for data management on structured and unstructured data sets

  • Demonstrates project management skills and may serve as a lead on IT projects.

  • Manages and provides Tier III support for reporting, data structures, and related data applications.

  • Provides technical guidance, business process expertise and technical leadership to team members.

  • Establishes liaison relationships with business partners and/or suppliers in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs and influence strategic initiatives.

You Must Have

  • Bachelors +5 years of experience

  • Certification + 5 years

  • 7 years if no Bachelor or Certification

  • Bachelor's degree , specialized training, certification, or five additional years of direct work experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree.

  • Has broad level industry knowledge and skills in relational databases, data quality, data governance, data integration, business intelligence reporting, and data visualization.

  • Experience with data management processes and tools like (Informatica, Microsoft Data Services, Microstrategy, Tableau, Denodo, Collibra)

  • Knowledge of data quality, data management, data visualization, and predictive analytics concepts

  • High level understanding of Big Data platforms and applications

  • Advanced SQL knowledge

  • Knowledge of various data modeling software tools such as Erwin

  • Ability to work without supervision, given latitude for independent action, for decision making and for developing solutions.

  • Ability to read and comprehend technical documents, maintain accurate records, prioritize work and analyze problems to develop innovative and effective solutions

  • Demonstrated initiative to maintain technical currency through outside studies and training

  • Ability to identify appropriate level of team interactions to resolve issues and lead effective collaboration and meetings.

  • Advanced skill in identifying and resolving technical problems and effectively communicating the problems to vendors, customers, and team members.

  • Excellent communication skills with functional and technical peers, and ability to adapt message to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • General knowledge of Cyber Security design requirements.

  • Ability to develop and communicate a technical vision that is easily understood by all levels of management.

  • Proven ability to mentor peers to better results and identify appropriate training to improve teams technical bench strength.
