Assistant Director, International Programs and Education Abroad - College of Arts & Sciences

Physical Location:

Salary:

 $45,599

Basic Function:

Coordinate and assist in the planning and management of international programs and education abroad programs and services for the College of Arts and Sciences. Reports to Associate Dean, International Programs and Education Abroad or designated supervisor in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Assist in setting goals, planning, organizing, recommending, and evaluating education abroad programs for Faculty Led Programs.

Coordinate development of individual Faculty Led programs and management of all student processes related to these programs.

Oversee the scholarship award process for students participating in new and existing education abroad programs.

Market study abroad initiatives to Kent State students and faculty, as well as to external institutional partners.

Supervise student and temporary employees as assigned.

May travel domestically and abroad to assist student groups.

Collaborate with Kent State academic units and departments to identify and assess specific education abroad opportunities.

Communicate and collaborate regularly with the Registrar's Office, Bursar's Office, Office of Student Financial Aid, and others to ensure the administrative aspects of the education abroad experience function efficiently and effectively.

Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of education abroad opportunities and stay current in the field ; maintain a professional presence and participate as needed in education abroad meetings and conferences.

Attend meetings and functions on Associate Dean's behalf as needed, on- and off-campus. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in higher education or a relevant field, plus two years experience in higher education administration.

License/Certification:

 

Knowledge Of:

College/university administrative policies/procedures/infrastructure; academic affairs, including the roles of colleges, schools, departments, etc.; Desktop software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite) and web-based systems *

Skill In:

Highly developed written and interpersonal communication *

 

Project management *

Ability To:

Provide leadership and direction

 

Develop and implement plans *

 

Work independently and as an effective change agent *

 

Travel domestically and abroad

 

Communicate and work effectively with all components of the university and external constituents involving diverse cultures

Preferred Qualifications -- if applicable:

Foreign study abroad or comparable international experience.

 

Fluency in a foreign language.
