The Pediatric Anxiety and Allergy Research Clinic (PAARC) is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow to work as part of a NIMH funded project investigating the development and preliminary efficacy of an mHealth application designed to aid in the treatment of trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder).

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

A focus of this post doc will be the national recruitment of 90 participants diagnosed with hair pulling disorder and randomly assigned to one of two treatment conditions. This project is focused upon adults with hair pulling disorder; however, the focus of the PAARC is upon developing a better understanding of and treatments for pediatric anxiety and related conditions, particularly those falling along the obsessive-compulsive spectrum (e.g., OCD, trichotillomania, tic disorders, etc.). The lab has a myriad of opportunities for involvement in ongoing projects as well as via analysis of data collected via past PAARC projects and our lab's access to large-scale databases (i.e., ABCD Study). Further, prospective applicants are encouraged to develop their own projects to facilitate job opportunities after completing their post-doctoral training. The project team is led by Dr. Christopher A. Flessner at Kent State University with additional opportunities for collaboration with colleagues at other universities and within area children's hospitals, in addition to other KSU faculty in health, social psychology, neuropsychology, and clinical science. This position offers the opportunity to develop an integrated research program and enhance skills necessary for a successful academic career in psychological science. Salary is consistent with current NIH post-doctoral training levels and includes health insurance and an additional stipend for professional travel, materials, etc. Moreover, post-doc fellows can gain clinical hours for licensure in the department clinic.

Minimum Qualifications:

Post-doctoral applicants must be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology with an expected graduation date by 08/01/2024. Applicants must also demonstrate research productivity in clinical science.

Preferred Qualifications -- if applicable:

Clinical research experiences among youths are preferred but not requisite. Advanced quantitative skills are welcome but not required.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
