Summary:DACC, a responsive, accessible, comprehensive, learning-centered community college that provides education opportunities to a diverse community of learners is inviting candidates to apply for the following vacant position:
Classification Summary: Delivers educational programs within a defined subject matter specific to the areas and objectives of international programs.
Classification Standard Duties: Develops curriculum for regular and special programs at New Mexico State University. Prepares instructional materials to meet students varying learning styles and achievement and language abilities, instructs students 15 to 25 contact hours per week using various teaching methods, and plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction. Establishes clear goals and objectives for each lesson and class and communicates those directly to students. Maintains accurate and complete student records; implements all policies and procedures of the program; attends regular instructional meetings; participates in orientation events or classes such as testing and placement, advising, and registration; maintains regular office hours; and participates in weekly activities such as advising, testing, and conferences. May oversee instructional personnel, which may include work allocation, training, and enforcement of internal procedures and controls and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency Education- Bachelors degree in a related field. Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience related to standard duties outlined. Equivalency and Certification/License - None.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KNOWLEDGE:Extensive knowledge of specific class being taught and use of related class materials and/or equipment.; SKILLS:Records maintenance skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.; ABILITIES:Ability to provide positive customer service. Ability to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants. Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain course curriculum aligned with departmental, state, and federal standards. Define performance objectives for lessons, units, and projects. Ensure that all English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction employs high-quality, evidence-based practices. Incorporate technology into course delivery to enhance learning experiences. Assess and monitor adult learner performance to determine the achievement of curriculum objectives. Plan, develop, and conduct classroom observations. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders t enhance the learning experience. Maintain clear and timely communication with instructors through emails, text, and phone calls. Develop and implement strategies to maintain student retention, aiming for an attendance rate of 70% or higher and retention rate of 65%. Manage and maintain adult learning resources and equipment.
Professional Development and Collaboration: Plan, deliver, and facilitate ongoing instructor professional learning sessions. Provide constructive feedback to instructors to ensure continuous improvement. Conduct mandatory teacher orientations and onboarding sessions. Participate actively in instructor recruitment and retention activities.
Data Management and Analysis: Collaborate with part-time instructors and the Data, Evaluation, and Assessment team to ensure compliance with state guidelines for post-testing. Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement. Use project management life-cycle and process improvement methodologies to manage responsibilities. Think flexibly as needed to address new priorities within a dynamic department, understanding that other duties will be required to ensure the team and department meets its goals.
