Job Title: Lead Application Development Engineer (m/f/d) Flexible PU Slab

Summary:As Lead Application Development Engineer (m/f/d) Flexible PU Slab, you will support the growth of the PU Slabstock Form segment with your technical expertise and be responsible for technical customer support. You understand the industry trends, the formulation technology needs of our customers and propose the most suitable technical solutions. You stand out with your technical expertise and consulting skills and support various countries in Europe with a focus on Eastern Europe.

Responsibilities Include:

• You will maintain regular contact with customers in the flexible PU foam sector in Europe, understand their needs and advise them on the best use of additives with a particular focus on the continuous production of flexible polyurethane foam.

• You support Sales by introducing existing and new products to customers in order to drive business growth in PU. Together you will brainstorm potential new sales partners in the Eastern Europe region.

• You will execute laboratory work, enabling you to identify and demonstrate suitable additive solutions. You will plan and carry out laboratory projects, from the translation of customer requirements to laboratory formulation work to support new product launches.

• You will provide feedback and strategic input to Marketing and Technology on new unmet needs, market trends and future product developments. You will suggest IP opportunities and changes to the product portfolio based on customer suggestions, market analysis and competitive information.

• You train Sales, distributors etc. in product application and present the PU segment at relevant technical conferences and seminars.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

• University degree (M.Sc.) in chemistry or chemical engineering

• 10+ years of experience in the flexible/slabstock industry in a product development and/or technical service role

• Expert understanding of the use and application of common raw materials used in the industry

• Strong skills in customer relationship management and ability to build sustainable business relationships

• Experienced in lab work to carry out selected projects and issue technical reports

• Proven ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously (project management) and work in an international environment with cross-functional teams, especially with Technology and Sales

• Systematic, meticulous approach to work and experience of working effectively with minimal supervision

• Self-motivated personality with a high level of creativity and technical curiosity

• Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills as well as ability to work effectively in a team and be a strong team player

• High willingness to travel (>60%), mainly in continental and Eastern Europe

• Fluent in English, good German language skills

• Good M365 skills, especially very familiar with Excel and Pow

Preferred:

• Several years of specific experience in production or technical service for the slabstock foam market

• Knowledge of Polish is highly desirable, other languages are an advantage (French, Italian, Spanish)
