Location: Skopje, Macedonia

What You Will Do:

The Principal Software Developer will report to the Engineering Lead/Engineering Manager/Engineering Director, responsible for supporting the Global R&D department.

The Principal Software Developer is a ‘hands-on’ member of a multi-disciplinary Agile Squad responsible for a specific area of the RLDatix Human Capital Management stack. This key role is accountable for establishing/maintaining project standards, delivering high quality software design and development as part of a broader team with specific focus on technical leadership, coaching/mentoring, engineering excellence, timely delivery, and high levels of quality.

This role will include liaising with internal and external stakeholders and how they work together.

A crucial part of the role is Delivery:

  • Reviewing, refining, estimating, and prioritising functional changes in close collaboration with the Scrum Squad leading to high quality committed deliverables.

  • Producing clean and efficient code adhering to relevant patterns and standards

  • Making informed decisions and taking ownership of project outcomes

  • Engaging in design and review processes as both an author and reviewer in conjunction with the Architecture Team and across multiple squads.

  • Performing verification and validation to ensure product backlog items are complete before handover to colleagues

  • Reviewing and debugging code associated with product backlog items

  • Troubleshooting customer production issues

  • Establishing standards for non-functional outcomes incorporating scale, security, deployment and operability considerations

  • Ensuring relevant documentation is produced and accessible

  • Ensuring, in collaboration with Scrum Squad, that ‘Definition of Done’ is achieved for all items

Additionally, this person will be responsible for:

Teamwork & Collaboration:

  • Actively engaging in all quarterly release planning and preparation activities

  • Actively engaging in all Scrum Ceremonies

  • Effectively communicating within the Scrum Squad and beyond into other teams that could be impacted by development decisions and activities

  • Providing technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to both Scrum Squad members and broader project team members.

  • Providing relevant technical leadership within Scrum Squad

Technology:

  • Actively engage in current industry methodologies, techniques, and emerging technologies.

  • Establish appropriate technology standards for adoption within the product/squad

  • Establish technical hygiene activities including technical debt resolution and supportability improvements

The role requires an individual that has the ability to work to tight deadlines. The role holder will have strong written and verbal skills, and be able to work well in a team environment, with competency in:

Demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, with colleagues including producing/reviewing technical documentation, preparing, organising, and delivering presentations using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Planning and Organising – Effective at determining a course of action by breaking it down into smaller steps and by planning and resourcing each of these, making allowance for potential problems.

  • Building Relationships – Able to develop effective relationships with RLDatix colleagues and customers. Able to respond appropriately to feedback.

  • Understanding RLDatix – Aware of RLDatix strategies, policies, and procedures and how the organisation operates.

  • Influencing and Impact – Ability to influence both within the scrum squad and the R&D wider team. Act in a professional manner and exhibit the required behaviour that should provide an example to other employees. Able to network throughout the wider RLDatix business and the user community. Needs to delegate tasks, responsibilities, and authorities effectively.

Experience/Knowledge You Will Need:

Candidates should ideally have:

  • Experience as a Senior Software Developer for at least two years

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Experience in collaborating within a multi-disciplinary Agile Squad

  • Excellent knowledge and experience of working with the Microsoft and AWS technologies

  • Strong spoken and written English skills
