Company: Pilgrim's Pride Corporation Position: Maintenance Manager Location: 214 S Main St., Moorefield, WV 26836 Requirements: Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related. 6 months of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, Trainee, or related. Experience must include: Implementing preventive maintenance programs, achieving PMs completion; Overseeing projects involving construction and alteration of facilities, completing them ahead of schedule; Establishing and managing departmental KPIs; Managing departmental budgets, reducing annual maintenance costs by 40% or more. Duties: Apply mechanical engineering principles to maintain and improve the efficiency and reliability of the facility uptime, specifically related to the overhead conveyor chains, hide removal equipment, sawing, chilling, deboning, storing, sorting and distributing boxed beef products; Design, justify, plan, coordinate, and execute capital expenditures such as water recycle projects, and trim and offal upgrades to improve throughput and efficiencies; Design, justify, plan, coordinate, and execute plant capital expenditures such as water recycle projects, and trim and offal upgrades to improve throughput and efficiencies; Identify, analyze, and offer solutions to address mechanical root causes for production lost efficiencies due to mechanical failures such as side puller, tail puller or down puller failure or overhead chain downtime; Work with contractors to insure compliance with all federal, state, and company safety requirements and standards procedures as they pertain to fabrication and material handling building requirements, including fire protection and snow loading design; Identify production problems, recommend modifications, and implement solutions to existing downtime mechanical / production issues such as conveyor failure to improve uptime; Analyze production problems and assist in implementing solutions to these problems, such as packaging backups that result in rework or downtime; Apply knowledge of complex food industry and manufacturing processes, and construction practices, standards, and codes to ultimately provide sound and economical engineering solutions; Independently research new mechanical technologies and recommend technical innovations in machine/system architecture, control methodologies, and industrial/lab/field automation, such as the introduction of collaborative robots so that humans can work side by side with robots and not be in harm's way; Provide expertise for design of mechanical power and automated controls in the company manufacturing operations to reduce electricity, natural gas and water usage; Monitor and implement improvements to conform to the company's mechanical standards, such as installing technology to control peak demand of electricity usage and lower electrical charges; Interact closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process, regularly interfacing with production, engineering, and quality, and with a continual focus on safety, and reduce worker repetitive motion injury; Help design facility layout to decrease labor; Provide expertise to ensure that all the equipment functions within the equipment weight limit and criteria; Apply knowledge of plant equipment such as high pulling equipment, overhead conveyor chains, automation, material handling, palletizing, crane storage, and sortation diverts, saws, hot cutters, boning tables and cryovac packaging equipment to help fix mechanical issues.
