Google AI Writer, Global Communications in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience in journalism, public relations, internal or executive communications, or a related field.

  • Experience as a writer for technology and AI.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Google’s products and technologies, as well as industry and social media trends.

  • Ability to adapt to audiences, consumers, policymakers, and non-technical/general audiences.

  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and lead projects, work cross-functionally with colleagues in different countries, and appreciate cultural differences.

  • Ability to work and maintain operations in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent research skills, with the ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects.

As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs editorial team, you will write and edit content that is true to the Google voice, in its many forms. You will work closely with Google executives and their teams to write and edit speeches, op-eds and blog posts that span the entire company--including product areas, regions, corporate news and the fun stuff in between! We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them simply. You will also have the opportunity to come up with new ideas for content, uncover engaging stories and flex your creativity wherever needed.

As an AI Writer focused on AI and technology, you'll prepare blog posts, speeches, op-eds, social content, and more that translate source material into accessible prose. In this role, you'll be writing a blog post on the latest AI breakthrough aimed at a variety of audiences including AI researchers and customers. You'll also be brainstorming creative social content to reach developers and take on special projects as needed to collaborate across communications, marketing, product teams, research, and more.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000-$194,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Create compelling editorial content focused on Google’s technology and AI across platforms including speeches, blog posts, op-eds, videos, newsletters, social media, and more.

  • Develop content for researchers, scientists, and developers.

  • Manage editorial projects incorporating feedback and edits from multiple stakeholders and making several revisions.

  • Support multiple editorial teams with different audiences, and propose creative approaches for communicating about technology and products.

  • Coordinate cross-functionally on content and strategy for announcements and events, and manage industry news and trends.
