U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor in New Orleans, Louisiana

Summary About the Position: Serves as the higher lever supervisor over the ground-based work operations and the District Service Base, located at the New Orleans District exercising full supervisory responsibility over the work operations through the use of 3-4 subordinate supervisors. Recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized based on agency needs. Responsibilities Plans work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Establishes priorities, schedules, and deadlines. Develops directives and policies consistent with the Commander's guidance and policies to ensure that mission requirements are met. Coordinates work requiring engineering oversite and support from other offices with the Chief of Maintenance for overly complex projects. Adjusts plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Develops performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Monitors production reports and records. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common duties of overseeing supervisors and journeyman trades. Meeting of quality standards, production quotas and time deadlines. Utilizing established general written and oral instructions, policies, standard work procedures and sequence of operations. Scheduling and planning work operations for several projects involving machinery maintenance and repair. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability to plan and organize work Ability to work with others Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic) Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Construction, Engineering, and Infrastructure Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
