Position Objective:
This position will assist the Deputy Director of Service Planning Projects in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting ridership data.
Responsibilities:
Develop methodologies where applicable for the production of periodic (weekly, monthly, etc.) reports on Metro-North ridership for executive and public consumption, using data from ticket sales, manual and automated counting, and other ridership estimation technologies.
Provide expedited reporting of ridership data gathered at/during scheduled special events such as Yankees home games and other events at Yankee Stadium, parades, marathons, as well as weathe r and other emergent events, as necessary.
Manage databases including GCT Counts, CSS and TIMS ticket sales, Automated Passenger Counting, and other databases to ensure information is updated.
Support CTDOT Hold-Down Fare Payment Calculations and Annual CTDOT Fare Credit Calculations.
Provide ridership information and monthly summary/ ad hoc reports to stakeholders.
Participates in identifying and developing mid to long-term planning recommendations to optimize the existing train system.
Provide benchmarking against other Metros through liaising with internal stakeholders and other Metros.
Required Qualifications:
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proven knowledge of data analysis and presentation programs (SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
Strong knowledge of database technologies.
Proven Knowledge of Word, Excel and/or comparable PC applications.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong quantitative, analytical, and financial skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize workload while adhering to deadlines.
The following is/are preferred:
Familiarity with Metro-North and railroad operations.
Experience with coding.
Familiarity with the New York Metropolitan region and its typical travel patterns.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science/Engineering, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Demonstrated equivalent experience, education, and/or technical credentials to include (4) additional years of related experience may be considered in place of the degree.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience analyzing and reporting data.

According to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the “Commission”).
Employees driving company vehicles must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MNR drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
