Job Description:

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and oversees the execution of global compensation, benefits and mobility strategies, policies and programs. Collaborates with senior leaders to ensure that the overall Total Rewards strategy and all compensation and benefit programs align with and support the company's business strategies globally.

  • Drives the design, communication and evaluation of executive compensation programs that reflect the executive compensation philosophy and drive the attainment of business goals and strategies. Ensures programs are performance driven, market competitive, appropriately leveraged, legally compliant, accurately administered and effectively communicated. Conducts periodic assessments of programs against stated objectives and recommends changes to maximize effectiveness. Serves as the key liaison with the Board of Director's Compensation Committee.

  • Oversees the base compensation program, including market competitive analysis, job descriptions and evaluations, pay increase strategies, manager and employee communications, and performance system and ensures that they are designed to support business strategy, are cost effective while retaining, maintaining and attracting talent.

  • Directs the design of employee benefits plans including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, short and long term disability, employee assistance, wellness program and tuition reimbursement ensuring competitive, cost-effective plans that drive a wellness culture and are financially sustainable for both the employee and the company.

  • Drives strategy for the management, development and administration of long-term incentive plans to motivate and retain key personnel and drive corporate objectives. Ensures legal compliance, cost effectiveness and effective communications. Works with Legal Department to ensure plans are in compliance. Communicates plan parameters to participants to ensure legal compliance and understanding.

  • Oversees the development, review and administration of incentive, bonus and commission plans to drive employee performance in line with revenue and business objectives. Ensures plans are market competitive, sustainable, legally sound and managed/administered accurately and effectively.

  • Monitors budget performance of compensation and benefit programs. Oversees variance analysis of actual results and recommends actions to senior executives as appropriate. Directs the financial modeling used in annual budgeting, forecasting and long range planning. Directs pro-active research and analysis and proposes financial/business models to positively impact trends and business performance. Identifies cost saving and/or revenue enhancement opportunities.

  • Ensures compliance with federal and state labor regulations and communicates any changes in law requiring modification to compensation and benefits programs. Creates and distributes the plan of action when modifying compensation and benefits programs. Partners with Legal Department to maintain compliance of executive compensation and benefit programs and with Tax and Finance to realize the intended tax benefit of all performance-based compensation.

  • Drives a corporate culture to support employee retention and pride within the organization. Partners with lines of business to communicate and/or identify compensation programs or needs to support the business ensuring alignment with corporate strategy. Establishes and communicates goals and objectives, defines methodologies, tasks, and activities, and clearly describes roles and responsibilities for performing to personnel.

  • Directs the overall personnel activity of the unit which may include executives, directors and senior HR and specialized personnel regarding job classification, variable cash compensation programs, health and wellness, and retirement programs. Manages compensation and benefits personnel. Ensures department resources are properly allocated. Maintains open communication between employees and management, with direct intervention as appropriate.

  • Directs, manages, develops and oversees budget; ensures activities are appropriately funded, coordinated and managed according to the guidelines/constraints of resource allocations. Oversees and manages department related expenditures. Balances cost saving measures with needs of department.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Master's degree in business administration, human resources, finance, management, law, or related field preferred

  • Twenty or more years of related experience

  • Fifteen or more years in a supervisory or management capacity included

  • Experience working with concepts, practices, and procedures in areas of responsibility

  • Experience working with management implications of various forms of financial data

  • Experience working in a global organization of size, scope and complexity

  • Experience working with external compensation and benefit consultants and other third-party solutions providers as well as negotiating with brokers and insurance carriers

Other Qualifications

  • Experience with federal, state and local laws and regulations, including all legislation affecting compensation and benefits

  • Strong communication skills to interface with all employee levels globally and to communicate complex, technical information in an understandable manner

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to partner and consult with all levels of management

  • Strong strategic management, planning and analytical skills for defining and framing initiatives to align compensation and benefits programs with corporate strategy

  • Strong implementation skills to ensure programs and policies support business objectives and initiatives

  • Strong presentation skills to include presenting recommendations to senior leaders and Board of Directors

  • Strong interpersonal and influence skills to cultivate relationships, facilitate negotiations and build partnerships with customers

  • Strong human relation skills to select, develop, coach, mentor, discipline and reward employees

  • Ability to anticipate and adapt quickly to change

  • Ability to partner with business leaders globally to drive initiatives and gain commitment and support

  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization including executive leadership and Board of Directors

  • Ability to use quantitative and qualitative metrics to gauge the effectiveness of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, and translate data into solutions to continually improve programs and practices

  • Ability to publicly represent company with internal and external clients in sensitive and highly visible circumstances
