Established in 1905, the Clearwater-Potlatch
Timber Protective Association (C-PTPA) is
one of Idahos two remaining private, non-
profit timber protective associations. The
C-PTPA cooperatively prevents, detects and
suppresses wildfires on approximately one
million acres of private, state and federal
forest lands in North Central Idaho.
The area protected by the C-PTPA includes
land in Clearwater, Latah, and Shoshone
Counties.

Small Boat Operator - Seasonal

The Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association (C-PTPA) is seeking a
seasonal Boat Operator for the fire patrol on Dworshak Reservoir.
The C-PTPA has pre-suppression and wildfire suppression responsibilities for
lands within the district. The C-PTPA administrative office is in Orofino, ID
and maintains three camps located strategically throughout the protection area
for quick wildland fire response. The Association utilizes aircraft and a lookout
tower for fire detection and employs approximately 60 people including full-
time and seasonal personnel.
The Orofino area, 42 miles from Lewiston, Idaho and near Dworshak Reservoir,
offers many outdoor recreational opportunities including fishing, hunting,
hiking and skiing.
Major Duties:
Under the supervision of the Orofino Fire Warden, the incumbent works alone
or with other employees to:
Safely transport, operate, and maintain the Associations fleet of fire
suppression/support motorized boats (20 22 length) and facilities.
Monitors and documents usage of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
dedicated camp sites along the shores of the Dworshak Reservoir.
Safely transport equipment, supplies, fire crews, supervisors, or other
personnel via boat on the Dworshak Reservoir.
Maintains NFDRS fire danger rating signs at boat launches,
campgrounds, and administrative sites along the shores of the
Dworshak Reservoir.
Execute other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills: Boat Operators must possess a valid class D
drivers license. Good communication, project planning, and organizational
skills as well as adaptability and self-starting are important traits for this
position. Boat Operators should have experience in maintaining, launching,
and operating powered watercraft in a lake setting.
Starting Wage: \$22.00 per hour DOE
