Medical Assistants work daylight hours. Travel is required in this role about 10-25% of the time to other UPMC Magee offices. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

We are hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to join their Urogynecology team at Magee Women's Hospital! Our UroGYN team provides academic and research based care to patients of all ages, and it is a large practice with 10 physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The Medical Assistant will assist physicians and APPs with rooming of patients, multiple office procedures and manage the flow of the busy office.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education.

Responsibilities:

  • Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance.

  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.

  • Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.

  • Perform phlebotomy, EKG's, and level one labs.

  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.

· High school diploma or equivalent is required.

· Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program or minimum of one year of direct patient care experience preferred.

o Recent Medical Assistant graduates/externs are welcome to apply as well!

· Any direct patient care experience preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

· CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

· Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 34 with renewal
