DXC Technology Test Automation Engineer in Plano, Texas

Job Description:

Test automation engineers also known as test automation developers are software developers/engineers who work within an Agile team to design, develop and run automatic tests for both new and existing software applications, libraries and platforms.

The role requires a combination of development, testing & automation skills.

Test Automation Developers need to be able to participate in the full testing cycle, starting from test strategy -> test execution -> automation & maintenance thus ensuring quality of the associated business value.

Test Automation Engineers will be required to design, develop automated tests including unit tests, integration tests and End-to-End tests. They are also required to support both operational acceptance testing and program level testing such as dynamic security testing.

Key skills

Test automation engineers require a combination of the following key skills:

  • Designing and writing test automation scripts for all phases in the development cycle, including continuous integration (CI), and continuous delivery and/or continuous deployment (CD), integration, regression and end to end test scenarios.

  • Programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript, C# and/or Java, and their associated test automation libraries and tools.

  • Swagger, RESTful APIs/webservices, microservices

  • Kubernetes, Docker or other container exposure

  • Test automation frameworks and tools like Selenium or Cucumber.

  • Static and Dynamic Application Security Testing.

  • DevOps tools including GitHub, Jenkins and Artifactory.

  • Exposure to Cloud Platforms including Azure, Google Cloud and AWS.

  • Focus on automation and infrastructure as code using tools like Ansible, Terraform & CloudFormation templates.

  • Detailed understanding of Agile methodologies & concepts.

  • Working with dev team (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Developers, Testers, Architects and DevOps engineers) in an Agile manner.

  • Investigate problems and find solutions to issues identified in testing.

  • Mathematical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Detail orientated with excellent organizational and teamwork skills.

  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks with a strong customer service orientation in a high-pressure environment.

  • Motivated and career orientated with an understanding of latest industry trends and their potential application to our development environment.
