The University of Southern Maine (file:///C:/Users/skwoodoldmac/Downloads/usm.maine.edu) is excited to announce two Business Advisor opportunities with Maine Small Business Development Centers (Maine SBDC). Maine SBDC (https://www.mainesbdc.org/) helps build and strengthen small businesses through no-cost business advising, training, and educational resources.

Maine SBDC Business Advisors provide high-quality, individualized business assistance through one-on-one business advising to Maine entrepreneurs and small businesses in all aspects of business management; conduct and/or organize information and training programs that build small firm capacity to operate, compete and thrive; navigate micro and small business access to capital; and aid access to information, technology, markets and research that assists business owners in the profitable operation of their business.

As a Maine SBDC Business Advisor, this position will work with business owners to help them reach their unique goals and/or assist them in identifying problem areas and developing solutions to address problems. Business advisors provide guidance on topics such as business feasibility, business startup, business plan development, capital acquisition, financial management, marketing and sales, human resources, and more.

These are full-time positions with an annual salary of $60,000.

The Maine SBDC seeks to fill two Business Advisor positions as detailed below:

  • One position will be located on the Lewiston/Auburn Campus and will serve Androscoggin, Franklin & Oxford Counties. A hybrid work schedule is available.

  • One position will be located in Portland, Maine but will work in various communities across Southern Maine. This is a two-year grant funded position that will work primarily within Underserved Communities. Underserved Communities include, but are not limited to, non-White, Hispanic, Disabled, Veteran, Rural and Women. A hybrid work schedule is available.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent degree.

  • Minimum of five years broad business management experience including small business operations and senior business-related management experience including financial management, personnel development, market research and planning, accounting, and profit and loss accountability.

License/Certifications:

  • Ability to provide own transportation (fully-insured vehicle), provide proof of a valid driver’s license, and compliance with Maine law regarding vehicle insurance.
