Amazon Sr. Technical Program Manager - Customer Terminals, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

The Sr. Program Manager, Customer Terminals will play a pivotal role in defining customer terminal products that will meet customer needs in the various segments. The right candidate must have demonstrated experience with advanced hardware and software product development within consumer, commercial or telecommunications domains.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Coordinate with hardware and software engineering teams to develop product strategy and features for customer terminals that will meet cost, performance, reliability and customer experience needs

  • Generate white papers to communicate project status, risks, and issues to leadership and cross functional teams.

  • Project management of overall development process including communicating goals, roles, responsibilities and desired outcomes to cross-functional project teams

  • Drive milestone readiness with the cross-functional teams.

  • Navigate through ambiguity and managing project delivery in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Collaborate with stake holders to define business and product requirements for long term product roadmap

Export Control Requirement:

Key job responsibilities

The Role:

In this role, you will work with the product management team to define the customer terminal and engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to solve complex hardware and software challenges taking products from ideation through final mass manufacturing using product development lifecycle. This is a highly technical hardware product development role and candidates must have experience with “full box” design and delivery of complex hardware and software products.

A day in the life

Candidates must be comfortable working with electrical, mechanical, industrial design, software/firmware teams, supply chain and contract manufacturing. Candidates will be responsible for driving products through scoping, product assessment, definition, design, EVT, DVT, PVT and sustaining operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
