The National Account Business Development Manager will sit anywhere from the midwest to the east and is responsible for prospecting, creating, qualifying, and closing sales within new National Key Accounts. The individual works to ensure sales growth and market share are consistent with the budget and overall business plan. Uses marketing and sales resources to develop, implement and track National Account business development.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary effort is to define, generate, qualify and prospect new business targets with a national scope, closing new sales and creating future prospects for service and recurring sales

  • Maintain and refines database or list of prospective customers for use as sales leads

  • Demonstrate leadership with customers by conducting individual and joint sales presentations, directing sales calls, managing contract negotiations, and overseeing the execution of sales contracts

  • Utilize market research to develop sales opportunities which will assure market performance and penetration in support of business initiatives

  • Partner with customers to develop long term relationships, generate additional sales, and guide problem resolution discussions

  • Develop monthly and weekly sales plans that include prospecting activities and forecasts

  • Collaborate with service and management to assure customer sales satisfaction, identify new client referrals and/or business prospects

  • Propose pricing and credit terms and prepares sales contract for orders obtained

  • Track and communicate leads, provides customer data for those purposes

  • Provide ideas, recommendations and support regarding new business development

  • Stay current on sales skills, professional knowledge and self-training to maximize professional growth and advancement; to include company capabilities, products, services and/or changes regarding sales and customer needs

  • Develop an account strategy to grow business and prepare reports of business transactions

  • Ability to coordinate sales efforts as needed with existing outside sales force

  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service to build relationships and ensure customer satisfaction

  • Communicate and cooperate in a productive manner with all departments

  • Utilize all appropriate VIP (Dimensions of Professional Selling) techniques and methodologies

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience, education and training; Bachelor's in Professional Selling, Marketing or Business is a plus

  • Sales experience in the food/meat processing and/or kill floor with a focus on plant operating supplies, packaging, personal protection equipment, or related safety items is preferred

  • Proven track record in growing business

  • Must be competitive, driven and self-motivated

  • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to work in a team setting with a diverse group of employees, managers and outside parties

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational and oral/written communication skills

  • Ability to utilize acceptable mathematical skills

  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word and Excel required

  • Experience with IBM I-Series/AS400 operating system highly desired

  • Significant travel is required; be willing to travel nationally to multiple locations as needed
