We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research & Development Manager to lead our Machine Vision team in the development and integration of state-of-the-art vision systems for our industrial robots. Primary responsibilities will include:
Lead and manage a team of talented engineers and researchers in the development of machine vision technologies applied to full range of FANUC robots
Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to identify vision system requirements, develop specific architectures and feature requirements, and integrate solutions into hardware and software embedded platforms
Drive researching and prototyping of new machine vision and neural network approaches for machine vision challenges such as object recognition, motion tracking, 3D mapping, and more working in conjunction with research and development teams with our parent company in Japan
Manage projects and development roadmaps, track progress, and ensure on-time delivery of machine vision modules according to business requirements
Participate in recruitment and talent development of the machine vision team
Manage the entire product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization
Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
Participate in market research to identify customer needs, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities
Stay informed about industry standards and regulatory requirements related to machine learning and vision system design technologies
Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
MS or PhD in Computer Vision, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or related experience
5+ years experience project management and leading teams building vision systems for robotics and/or industrial automation preferred
Expertise in computer vision algorithms like convolutional neural networks
Experience with camera technology and integrating vision systems into complex machinery or devices
Experience in C++ and Python
Experience in software development with large development teams across multiple regions including use of GIT, GITLAB or similar production release environments
Demonstrated track record of successfully leading projects from conception to commercialization
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to deliver vision solutions for global engineering teams
Ability to work in a manufacturing / engineering environment 10% of the time
Some travel is required, domestic and international
Publication record in relevant conferences/journals is a plus
High School Diploma or GED Required
