Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join a strong team of motivated individuals and contribute to the successful completion of industrial control system implementation projects for our municipal and industrial water and wastewater clients on a regional and national basis. As part of our team, the candidate will be asked to interface with clients, consultants, design staff and other stakeholders to understand their process, instrumentation and controls requirements to produce deliverables associated with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. Typical implementation tasks include:

  • Participate in site investigations to gather information about the client's systems, equipment and instruments to enter into management software and to develop project plans and cost estimates to proactively maintain and upgrade the system;
  • Develop process logic for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in the monitoring and control of water and wastewater treatment systems;
  • Design graphical screens that represent process equipment and instrumentation in the human machine interface (HMI) software packages used by our clients;
  • Design graphical screens for the operator interface terminals (OITs) utilized in our SCADA systems;
  • Create automated reports, via specialized reporting software to collect process information monitored by the SCADA system for use by the client or submission to regulatory agencies;
  • Participate in the installation (oversight of contractors and guidance in wiring terminations), checkout and modification of the field wiring associated with the equipment and instruments connected to the SCADA system;
  • Configure and calibrate instrumentation, including level, pressure, flow, temperature, process analyzers and more, and connecting to the SCADA system;
  • Configure and commission industrial networking hardware, including Ethernet switches, wireless access points and licensed frequency radios;
  • Participate in the testing and startup of the process equipment, instruments and SCADA system to ensure the SCADA system monitors and controls the equipment as intended;
  • Train operations personnel on the use, maintenance and troubleshooting of the SCADA system hardware, software and installation;
  • Participate in QA/QC activities for both the design deliverables produced by the design team and the code developed by the controls team.

Successful engineers are incredibly focused on their projects but are not shy about initiating communication when necessary. They also develop the ability to "see the big picture" and appreciate the varied interests that stakeholders hold in the outcome of projects. Effective communication is crisp, succinct and is not considered complete until the receiver acknowledges they have received and understand the sender's (your) message;
  • Possess strong organizational skills - tasks and information are going to come at you fast, so you need to be able to take good notes and keep track of your assignments;
  • Attention to detail - as in many engineering disciplines, paying attention to the smallest details is critical;
  • Self-motivated and self-starting - our team is composed of engineers who take the initiative, and have an unmatched work ethic to deliver high quality projects and solve our clients' problems;
  • Able to solve problems independently, but also know when to seek assistance from colleagues.

The candidate must be onsite in our St. Charles, MO office and also be flexible for 50% travel in the local area. Travel to clients' facilities will predominantly consist of day trips with the occasional overnight assignment and infrequent travel outside of the local area.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or associated field;
  • 0-1 years' experience in an industrial or electrical environment either as an intern, engineer or consultant;
  • Experience with PLC programming (Allen Bradley PLC experience a bonus);
  • Experience developing HMI projects;
  • Aptitude in solving programming, electrical or mechanical problems;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Access experience is a bonus);
  • Experience with AutoCAD drafting software is a bonus;

$53,016 - $79,524 a year

Pay:

This position's anticipated pay range is provided above; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.

Annual Incentive Bonus Opportunity:

Eligible positions may receive an annual cash bonus based on the role's organizational level, and is represented as a percentage range of eligible earnings.
