ST LOUIS METAL & RECYCLING COMPANY, INC. Administrative Assistant/Receptionist Secretary/Cashier in ST LOUIS, Missouri

Minimum Qualifications: We are looking for a Cashier to manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently.To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in a customer service and good knowledge of Microsoft programs.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
  • Minimum of 3-years previous cashier or customer service experience preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, work independently, multitask and have excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Take an organized approach to work and work area. Demonstrate good work ethic and is dependable.
  • Ability to work standing or walking for up to 8hours per day.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
  • Computer experience, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and the ability to learn in house systems.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Flexible to work overtime, off-hours, weekends, and holidays in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within SLMRC; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
  • Calculates payment amount, prepares and issues payment by cash or scale check according to payment terms with customer; cash payment issued is not to exceed limit set by company policy;
  • Responsible for following all legal requirements on purchasing and paying out materials. These requirements include, but are not limited to; check ID, take pictures of seller, verify materials purchased, etc.
  • Communicate pricing information and material specifications to customers with the ability to connect well with all levels of customers and management. Ensure good customer relations by acting in a courteous, safe and professional manner.
  • Perform general office administration duties to include answering phones, processing paperwork and other similar duties.
  • Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
