The Office is currently seeking three Consumer Analysts in the Consumer Protection Section of the Office.
Consumer Analysts assist the Office to improve access to justice, fairness, and opportunity for Minnesotans in a wide variety of matters including the following: debt collection, employment, utilities, medical billing, and housing. Incumbents in this role are primarily responsible for answering the Office’s Consumer Assistance Hotline and providing information to Minnesotans on a range of inquiries and assisting in resolving disputes when possible. This position also includes preparing responses to correspondence the Office receives from the public. Consumer Analysts work collaboratively with our consumer protection staff and attorneys to review consumer complaints for violations of consumer protection laws, gather evidence, and prepare documents. Training on various consumer protection topics is provided.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in one or closely related areas below OR four years demonstrable related experience
Political Science
Public Administration
Communications
Social Work
Skill in:
Customer Service sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, through e-mail and other written correspondence
Active listening, conflict resolution, and objectivity
Effective oral and written communication
Microsoft Office 365 – intermediate level
Ability to:
Adapt and work with diverse personality types in person, online, and on the phone
Identify internal/external customer needs, research matters, and provide resources, recommendations, solutions to customers accordingly
Multi-task including effectively prioritizing and managing a large case load with high attention to details and deadlines, professionalism, and minimal management support
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Oromo, or other relevant language for Minnesota’s diverse communities
At least one to two years experience in customer service
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move and transport such articles as files, laptop computer and resource materials weighing up to 20 pounds
