Vectrus Navy Systems Engineer in Tysons, Virginia

V2X seeks a results-driven Systems Engineer to join our engineering teams working to develop advanced systems specializing in spectrum sharing, spectrum control, interference deconfliction, and automated system control. These applications may be specific to afloat Navy vessels and systems. As a result, any experience with afloat Navy combat, EW, radar, or other C4ISR systems is helpful.

In this role you will use Systems Engineering skillsets and tools to negotiate and refine requirements, interfaces, schedules, cost ROMs, and develop system diagrams and schematics alongside our software and engineering teams. You will track progress and accurately document program milestones. Additionally, you may work alongside our Machine Learning and Software Engineers to accurately model and depict system and software interdependencies and the overall data flow through systems under design.

This position requires an active DoD TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility.

Work location is in Arlington VA. Applicants must be local to the DC Metro Area and/or able to work in Arlington when required. Opportunities for telework will be limited due to work classification. Local travel is required with the possibility of regional travel as needed, expected less than 5% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • For this role you should have an in-depth understanding of Systems Engineering processes and practices. The work required shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

  • Work with Navy and V2X engineering and software development teams to document and depict system architecture and system interactions.

  • Where applicable, negotiate options with the system requirement trade-space to optimize system capability vs cost.

  • Work closely with the customer to ensure the system design, as depicted, meets the customer’s requirements

  • Work with junior MBSE staff to document systems in CAMEO and prepare briefings and presentations to discuss all levels of system design.

  • Work with the V2X engineering and software team to document, in detail, the functionality and require interconnections of complex systems.

  • Participate and bring value to customer and internal meetings and discussions.

Qualifications

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field is strongly preferred.

  • Required Experience:

  • 5 or more years of Systems Engineering experience.

  • Working with engineering teams and with complex system design.

  • Must be able to analyze information; design, develop, and document technical specifications based on input from engineering and customer teams.

  • Experience with the successful design, development, and documentation of complex systems.

  • Clearance Requirement:

  • Must have an active DoD TOP SECRET security clearance.

  •  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile software development or experience with other agile projects

  • MBSE experience with software suites such as CAMEO.

  • Experience working with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Standard Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI), DoD acquisition processes, and architectural products for interoperability among the DoD components.

  • Experience with Navy C4ISR systems.
