Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review test results and consult with Center physician on any unusual, abnormal, or elevated test results and non-routine situations in addition to all medical incidents which must also be reviewed by Center physician.

• Supervise laboratory staff and prepare daily work assignments.

• Perform some laboratory assays.

• Maintain and review records.

• Schedule/perform instrument/equipment maintenance and QC

• Assist Attending Physician with immunization scheduling.

• Maintain the proficiency testing program.

• Purchasing/Inventory control.

• Train laboratory personnel.

• Any other duties as required by Supervisor.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Education of a 4 year Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology

• 6 years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience of which at least 2 years were spent in a clinical

• laboratory with a Director at the doctoral level

• Must have a NYS License in Medical Technology

• Required to complete 12 hours of continuing education credits to maintain the NYS license

• Previous work experience should demonstrate adaptability to changing priorities, excellent attention to detail, legible handwriting and the ability to deal effectively with people

• Ability to prioritize duties on a monthly cycle

• Ability to work with a variety of personalities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Ability to sit or stand for up to four (4) hours at a time.

• Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to fifty (50) pounds.

• Ability to operate computer software including SLDD (with training) and Microsoft Office.

• Be able to bend, stoop or kneel.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
